| The
Auckland Photographic Society is a nonprofit organisation
of both amateur and professional photographers alike.
Our
primary goal is to promote and support the art and science
of photography as a means of creative expression achieved
through awareness, education and participation. APS has a
library of books on photography that members may borrow. A
list of available titles may be seen here. Please contact the Librarian.
We
strive to provide an enjoyable and stimulating forum through
which members can receive practical information to help improve
their technique, develop their artistic vision, share ideas
and keep pace with industry trends.
The Society meets at St Pauls Church Hall, 12 St Vincent Avenue,
Remuera, on the first, third and fourth Thursday of each month.
The first Thursday is typically an educational workshop or
a presentation by an invited guest speaker. The third Thursday
is a regular competition night based on a set theme and an
open category where guest judges are invited to provide critique.
The fourth Thursday, termed a caual night, is to allow for
minor workshops or discussions to take place and to allow
members more time to socialise. Doors open at 7.30pm.
Competitions
provide members with the opportunity to view other member's
work as well as receive valuable feedback on their own work
from judges within the photographic industry
Additionally,
photographic outings are held on a regular basis.
Visitors
are always welcome.
